The Serventrepreneur® Foundation is a 501-C3 public charity, non-profit organization with a family of growing ministry programs all driven by the same mission to “serve entrepreneurs” and to develop “servant entrepreneurs”.
The Serventrepreneur® Foundation was founded in 2007. Inspired by the scripture found in Luke’s gospel passage 6:38 “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again”, founder Mary Elizabeth Beal believes that the best way to succeed with her own entrepreneurial endeavors is to help others pursuing their own dreams.
Beal says, “I am lucky enough to live in a community that offers numerous resources for entrepreneurs. I received great business advice from existing organizations about writing business plans, fund raising, and marketing. However, even with the available programs, I still found myself lacking the wisdom, clarity, vision, and on some days strength to accomplish all of the tasks before me.” She continues, “It was about that time that my pastor began preaching a sermon series on servant leadership as reflected in the book of Nehemiah. As I began learning about how a servant’s heart can make someone a more effective leader, I became convinced that servanthood could have the same if not greater impact on the life of an entrepreneur.”
There are numerous organizations dedicated to building better leaders by teaching the principles of servant leadership. However, The Serventrepreneur Foundation believes that the needs of an entrepreneur are very different from that of a leader. Therefore, our main focus it to “serve entrepreneurs” and we believe that is best done by teaching how the same principles of serving God and serving others will make you a better entrepreneur… a “Serventrepreneur®”.
